Understanding and Addressing Bias and Microaggression in the Workplace

In this workshop, we help participants understand that unconscious bias exists, that we all have it, and that it manifests in different ways. We explain the neurobiology of bias, and how we can change our brains to reduce bias. In the second half of the workshop, we describe how bias manifests in our assumptions and interactions with others through microaggressions and stereotypes. There will be reflection and guided discussion on how their work intercepts with these concepts and issues.

We end this workshop with perspective taking and goal setting where participants will be asked to set a specific, measurable and challenging (yet attainable) goal/ to address bias, stereotypes and microaggressions.
