Unhiding the Systems of Inequity

In this workshop, we dive into power, privilege, and the historical context of systemic racism in Canada, understanding how these elements intersect to shape the complex social landscape within the workplace. We start by defining oppression and the ideological, institutional, interpersonal, and internal manifestations of oppression. We outline the various ways power is distributed across identities such as race, gender, sexual orientation, class, education, and more. Participants will have the opportunity to examine how their personal identities intersect with systems of power, privilege, and oppression, gaining insights into the intricate social dynamics that shape our world.

We end this workshop with perspective taking and goal setting where participants will be asked to set a specific, measurable and challenging (yet attainable) goal/ to address systems of inequity that they will notice operating in the workplace
